Police: Toy gun leads to standoff at Pa. hotel

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police say an angry guest with a toy gun led to a four-hour standoff at a central Pennsylvania hotel.

The Sentinel newspaper reports 46-year-old Mount Airy, Md., resident John Jacobi got into an argument Sunday morning with a clerk at the Best Western in Shippensburg Township. Police say he was upset about money apparently stolen from his room, and that he was carrying what appeared to be a machine gun.

WGAL-TV reports guests were ordered to stay in their rooms while police dealt with the situation.

Jacobi was eventually taken into custody. Police determined he was carrying a toy machine gun replica.

Police say he was wanted in Maryland for a previous assault case and has been sent to Cumberland County Prison.
