ANTIQUES SHOWS
The 47th Annual Salem Kiwanis Club Antique and Craft Show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 16 at Centennial Park, Pershing Street, Salem. Antique dealers will have displays, and there will be food vendors selling refreshments. A local dulcimer club will perform beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit local children and youth programs in the community as well as Salem High School’s Key Club. For more information call 330-332-7748.
ART SHOWS
Art on the Hill 2011 will have artisans and food vendors at its show on Saturday in Mantua. In addition to the art displays and sales, the daylong event includes continuous live entertainment and food. Call Christine Pitsinger at 330-414-6486 for additional information.
CAR SHOWS
Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, off West Boulevard, is having a car/motorcycle and craft show “Christmas in July” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30. Preregister your vehicle by calling 330-318-3610 for $8 or register the day of the event for $10. Ten trophies will be awarded for the top cars/bikes. Goodie bags will go to the first 100 entries. The first 50 get a free T-shirt. Also featured will be a basket auction, a 50-50 drawing, numerous giveaways, music and concessions.
CRAFT SHOWS
Shepherd of the Valley-Niles is having its craft show, planned for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. More than 20 vendors will offer a variety of crafts, jewelry, candles and food items. Proceeds will support resident activities. In addition, the independent residents will have a garage sale during the same hours. FESTIVALS/FAIRS
Paradise United Church of Christ, 10020 New Buffalo Road, Canfield, is sponsoring a lawn festival from 4 to 7 p.m. July 16. Featured will be food, a bake sale, raffle baskets, a country store, and activities and games for all ages.
William Penn Fraternal Association is sponsoring its annual end of the summer fest. The all-day event will take place Sept. 17 at Scenic View Park, Rockwood, Pa. In conjunction with this event the WPA will celebrate its 125th anniversary. A special performance by the RAJKO ensemble from Budapest, Hungary, will be given. A 46-seat bus has been chartered by Youngstown Branch 28 of William Penn. The cost for the bus trip is $35 per person, which includes transportation and admission. The cost of the picnic if attending on your own will be $12 per adult and $5 per student for all you can eat and drink all day. The event begins at noon and ends about 6 p.m. The bus will depart from Boardman Red Lobster at 8 a.m. and arrive back in Youngstown about 10 p.m.
RAFFLES
Campbell City Fest is sponsoring a reverse raffle July 15 at Brownstone Court Banquet Hall & Catering, 50 Struthers-Coitsville Road, Youngstown. Cocktail hour will be at 6 p.m., and dinner will be at 6:30. Tickets are $50 each ($20 for dinner guest). Featured will be $1,000 in prizes, a 50-50 raffle and a basket raffle.
SALES
First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., will have a large rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Household and furniture items, sewing and quilting materials, 45 and 33 rpm records and players, crafts and books are some of the many items for sale. Between 8 and 9 a.m., coffee will be served, and lunch items will be available for purchase. Free parking is available behind the church.
Harvest Point Church, 6100 Tod Ave., Lordstown Plaza, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 and 16. The proceeds will go to the church’s outreach ministry, which includes the free Community Luau on Aug. 28 at the 4-Corners Park on Tod Avenue.
Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna, will have its 10th annual rummage sale Aug. 4, 5 and 6. The preview sale is from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 4; admission is $3. Hours Aug. 5 will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Aug. 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food and a bake sale will be available.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, including Beanie Babies and other collectibles, books, records, audiotapes, furniture and much more. Free tours of historic St. John’s will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield, will have its annual Car Trunk & Treasure Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 23. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown will sell goods inside the center, and a public sale will take place in the parking lot. For $20, sellers receive two parking spots where they can unload and/or sell items from their vehicles. TRIPS
James Family Reunion will have a bus leaving from Youngstown at 8:30 a.m. July 15 to Washington, D.C., and returning July 17. The round trip cost is $85. If interested in riding contact Johnsie Harris at 330-398-9655 before Sunday.
