Lonnie Riggs won the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds and Gary Edwards took the ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors.

Terry Wheeler won the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars and Shane Pfeuffer dashed home first in the Big Daddy’s Speed Center Modified Lites.

Wimbledon leaving NBC, maybe to ESPN

NEW YORK

Wimbledon is leaving NBC after 43 years and appears headed to ESPN.

NBC said in a statement Sunday that “while we would have liked to have continued our relationship, we were simply outbid.”

A person with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed that ESPN was working on a contract with the All England Club to televise all of the Grand Slam tournament. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal was not ready to be announced.

The switch was first reported by SportsBusiness Journal.

ESPN had owned the rights to extensively televise early rounds of Wimbledon, with NBC picking up coverage as the tournament progressed.

US boats win 4 races in Henley Royal Regatta

HENLEY, England

American boats won four titles on the final day of the Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames.

Harvard won the Prince Albert Cup by defeating Oxford Brookes University by 13/4 lengths Sunday in the final of the race for student coxed fours. University of California led from the first stroke in the Temple Cup for student eights to down Dutch students by 41/2 lengths.

In the Remenham Cup for female international eights, the reigning world champion United States team — racing as Princeton Training Center — equaled the record time of 6 minutes, 38 seconds by beating the British national crew.

Pair take events at Russian track meet

ZHUKOVSKY, Russia

Tiffany Townsend and Queen Harrison of the United States won their races at the Znamensky Brothers Memorial track meet Sunday.

Townsend finished the 200 meets in 22.84 seconds to edge countrywoman Charonda Williams by .05, while Harrison’s time of 12.88 in the 100 hurdles was .09 faster than fellow American Kristi Castlin.

In the men’s 100, Michael Frater of Jamaica ran a 10.11 to beat Ramil Guliyev of Turkey and Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Harness Racing Hall of Fame inducts new class

GOSHEN, N.Y.

The leading money-earning pacer Gallo Blue Chip and the president of Hanover Shoe Farm are among the inductees into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in Goshen, N.Y.

Racing judge Walter Russell also was inducted Sunday, along with Jim Simpson, who runs the Hanover stallion farm.

Other horses who were inducted were the pacing mare Eternal Camnation and broodmares JC’s Nathalie, Artistic Vision and Tsunami Hanover.

Gallo Blue Chip earned $4.2 million over a 6-year racing career that ended in 2005.

Predators sign forward Bergfors to 1-year deal

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

The Nashville Predators have signed forward Niclas Bergfors to a one-year contract worth $575,000.

The deal was announced Sunday by Predators general manager David Poile.

Bergfors, 24, had 12 goals and 24 assists in 72 games last season with the Atlanta Thrashers and Florida Panthers.

During his first full NHL season with New Jersey and Atlanta in 2009-10, the native of Sweden had 21 goals and 44 points in 81 games, landing him a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team.

In 162 career NHL games, Bergfors has 81 points.
