YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown City Schools is pleased to announce the selection of two Master Teachers for the 2010-11 school year.
Teachers Kenneth Andrews of East High School and Mark Robinson of Youngstown Early College are to be honored at a school board meeting.
“We are very proud of these teachers,” said Superintendent Connie Hathorn. “The selection committee was very impressed with their accomplishments and dedication to teaching.”
The Master Teacher Program is a way to recognize and honor teachers who go above and beyond district expectations.
The program creates a resource of teacher leaders to advance the profession and encourages high quality teachers to remain in the classroom.
Educators must complete an application with several narratives and then provide evidence to show that they demonstrated excellence inside and outside the classroom based on Standards for Ohio Educators.
A Master Teacher designation is required to seek advanced licensure in the state of Ohio. Senior and lead professional licenses are available for educators who complete the Master Teacher portfolio or National Board certification.
National Board Certified Teachers are highly accomplished educators who met high and rigorous standards and Ohio also grants them a Master Teacher designation.
National Board Certification teachers have met rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review.
Andrews and Robinson join the list of Youngstown City Schools teachers who have been selected as National Board or Master Teachers.
