June 17
Arrest: A vehicle check on Market Street led to the arrest of 43-year-old Nicholas D. Velazquez, 224 Ayers St., Youngstown, who was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Dauphin County, Pa.
Arrest: Police pulled over a car on U.S. Route 224, then took 25-year-old Katelyn A. Bowden into custody. Bowden, of 5 Circle St., Niles, was wanted on a warrant from that city.
Theft: Janet L. Gullick, 42, of 2133 Kensington Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $145 worth of merchandise from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Aggravated menacing: A Youngstown woman told officers another woman threatened to break her neck as the accuser was leaving an East Midlothian Boulevard business.
Theft: A worker for a South Avenue store reported his wallet stolen.
Misuse of a credit card: A Shields Road woman noticed a $57 unauthorized online charge to her debit-card account.
Misuse of a credit card: A man opened the latest in a series of accounts at Seven Seventeen Credit Union, 7371 California Ave., using a false Social Security number.
June 18
Theft/criminal damaging: A West Boulevard man discovered eggs had been thrown at his residence, and that a radio and a decorative stuffed animal were missing.
Theft: A woman stole $72 worth of merchandise from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.
Burglary: Occurred in the 2900 block of Grover Drive. A woman discovered $320 missing from her purse.
Drugs: Andria N. Gothot, 31, of 703 Trumbull Ave., Girard, faced two counts of drug possession and one of possession of drug paraphernalia after being pulled over on Market Street, and when, police said, three pills, a bag of suspected marijuana and a bowl with suspected marijuana residue were found. Officers also cited 30-year-old Bobbi J. Kosmo, 56 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, on a drug charge.
Theft: A man from Linz, Austria, staying at a South Avenue motel reported the theft of his passport.
Vandalism: A Linger Place woman reported vandals cut her clothesline, overturned lawn chairs and damaged a patio stone. Police also answered a similar complaint in the 1800 block of Basil Avenue.
Theft: A woman at a California Avenue restaurant said her former boyfriend stole her $111 cellphone.
Robbery: A Youngstown woman at a South Avenue car wash told authorities a man in his 50s wearing sunglasses and a black pair of pants, shirt and ball cap held a knife to her stomach and demanded money. The woman fled on foot but suffered a minor injury after pushing the knife away, a report said.
Burglary: To a residence in the 300 block of Shields Road, from which two TVs and $10 were stolen, for a $1,460 loss.
June 19
Aggravated menacing: A Poland man alleged an employee of Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, pointed a box cutter at him, then made a threatening comment during an argument related to the man’s receipt.
Arrest: Officers picked up 34-year-old Jessica L. Diaz at her home, 721 Canterbury Drive, Boardman, on a warrant from Struthers charging her with failure to appear in court.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into an Ohio Edison Co. substation in the 6400 block of Southern Boulevard and cut numerous large grounds attached to transformers.
Harassment: A Cedar Way woman told police her former boyfriend followed her in his vehicle and sent about 14 unwanted voice mails and text messages.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard by forcing open a door. Forty compact discs and numerous pieces of jewelry were among items missing.
Arrest: Officers stopped a vehicle near Midlothian Boulevard and Interstate 680, then arrested 25-year-old Darryl T. Armstrong Jr., 725 E. Avondale Ave., Youngstown. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Theft: Two people stole a $59 box of flea treatment from Harbor Pet Center, 7338 Market St.
Burglary/animal cruelty: Someone broke into and ransacked a residence in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court before stealing a laptop computer, a Nintendo game system and related accessories. The burglar also drowned two hamsters in a fish tank and killed two fish, a report showed.
June 20
Drugs: A traffic stop on Glenwood Avenue led to the arrest of 39-year-old Shaneeh Y. Battles, 4204 Rush Blvd., Youngstown, on charges of drug abuse (cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Battles, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, had a spoon containing powder that tested positive for cocaine, a report showed.
Attempted theft: Two people tried to steal a $72 pair of shoes from Shoe Carnival, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road was found with damage to its rear driver’s-side door. The estimate was $200.
Harassment: A Forestlake Drive woman reported a phone scam in which the caller claimed she had won $1.5 million but first needed to send $53 to someone in Kingston, Jamaica.
Identity fraud: A Larkridge Avenue woman found out someone had opened an account with her Social Security number.
Breaking and entering: Copper fittings and piping, among other items, were removed from a construction site someone had entered in the 7800 block of Market Street. The loss came to $1,022.
Harassment: A Melbourne Avenue woman reported a man she had met via an online dating service has been sending unwanted emails.
June 21
Arrest: Police charged 28-year-old Robert L. Swope, 2502 Sierra Drive, Youngstown, with misuse of the county 911 system, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct after responding to an emergency call from a Market Street gas station. Swope, who became loud and belligerent, had hung up on a 911 dispatcher, authorities said.
Drugs: Patricia A. Camuso, 43, of 4294 Patricia Ave., Youngstown, faced two drug-related charges after police responded to a possible drug deal in the 5100 block of Market Street. Two bottles with different pills and two items from which to inhale crack cocaine were found, a report said.
June 24
Criminal damaging: A mailbox in the 8200 block of Hitchcock Road was destroyed.
Harassment: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield Road business reported her former boyfriend has been continually calling against her wishes.
Robbery: A man in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle told police that as he took out trash, one of two men struck his wrist with an aluminum baseball bat and pushed him to the ground while the other removed $10 from the victim’s pocket before both fled. The robbers were described as in their early 20s wearing baseball jerseys and caps, a report showed.
Criminal damaging: Two patio lights were damaged in the 5300 block of Linger Place.
Criminal damaging: Someone broke a large front window to a business in the 900 block of Boardman-Poland Road.
Criminal mischief: Someone poured soup on a vehicle in the 50 block of Prestwick Drive.
Burglary: Robert L. Swope, 28, of 2502 Sierra Drive, Youngstown, faced a burglary charge, accused of entering a room at the Boardman Inn, 7109 Market St., through a rear window. An employee discovered Swope asleep in a bed, a report said.
Theft: Two cast-iron sewer covers were missing on Aspen Lane.
Criminal mischief: Someone drove through and damaged part of a yard in the 1800 block of Basil Avenue.
Burglary: Occurred in the 5900 block of Glenwood Avenue via a side door. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, however.
Theft: Police booked two 12-year-old Youngstown boys after clothing and other merchandise was stolen from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Attempted fraud: An elderly Walker Mill Road woman told police a caller claimed she had won a $2 million sweepstakes drawing but first needed to bring $200 to a Poland store, then pick up her ticket.
Fraud: A West Boulevard woman found two unauthorized charges totaling more than $600 to her bank account, one of which was for a plane ticket.
Theft: Walmart security cameras caught three boys stealing about $88 worth of merchandise.
Assault: A Youngstown man told police a Lemont Drive man used an aluminum broomstick to strike him during an argument related to a paycheck. The other man said he had been punched in the mouth.
Theft: A $649 cellphone was stolen from AT&T, 7125 Tiffany Blvd.
Criminal damaging and mischief: Police responded to a report of three males damaging property near Basil and Brandon avenues, where one resident reported a bird feeder was destroyed and another man said his picnic table had been overturned.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone cut a fence and entered an Ohio Edison Co. substation in the 6400 block of Southern Boulevard before stealing copper.
Theft: A man age 25 to 30 left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying his $9 food bill.
Theft: A Crystal Drive boy reported his $700 bicycle stolen.
Harassment: Mark E. Rose, 37, of 1800 Alverne Drive, Boardman, surrendered on a telecommunications-harassment charge after a neighbor reported having received two unwanted calls.
Theft: A $160 remote-controlled helicopter was removed from Hobby Town USA, 105 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: Luzminda T. McReary, 46, of 2549 Lower Elkton Road, Columbiana, was charged with stealing a $60 pair of sandals from Macy’s.
Theft: Ruth G. Rivera, 53, of 8049 Deerpath Drive, Boardman, was charged in the theft of $43 worth of women’s clothing from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Domestic violence: Deseray S. Sklenchar, 19, was taken into custody at her residence, 4743 Southern Blvd., Boardman, and charged after a family member alleged Sklenchar had thrown and struck him with a glass object, then hit the accuser in the back and shoulder during an argument. The man suffered a cut and bruising to his left forearm.
June 25
Criminal mischief: Four plastic yard chairs were found scattered in a backyard in the 1700 block of Basil Avenue.
Harassment: A Glendale Avenue woman reported the latest in a series of such calls.
Criminal mischief: A flower bed in the 300 block of Mathews Road was damaged.
Criminal damaging: A car in the 4200 block of Hillman Way was found with several broken windows. The estimate was $1,300.
Theft: An undisclosed sum of money was missing from a safe at Antone’s Italian Grille, 720 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Counterfeit: A customer at Dunkin Donuts, 6041 Market St., passed three fake $20 bills.
Criminal mischief: Damage was done to plants and a garden in the 1800 block of Halbert Drive.
Theft: Two 16-year-old Youngstown girls were charged in the theft of roughly $120 worth of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, then released to the custody of a parent and guardian.
Recovered property: About $74 worth of stolen property was returned to Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.
Theft: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield Road store discovered $150 and a paycheck missing from her purse.
Assault/menacing: A man at a Boardman-Canfield Road apartment reported another man pushed the accuser into a wall, then implied he would be killed after accusing him of urinating off a balcony and harassing a family member.
Theft: A $300, 18-speed bicycle was stolen in the 70 block of Carter Circle.
Criminal damaging: Two decorative items were smashed in the street in the 1800 block of Basil Avenue.
Identity theft: A Youngstown man alleged his former employer used the accuser’s personal information without consent to open a business account on McClurg Road.
June 26
Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a man after a Red Tail Hawk Drive woman alleged he had threatened to kill her during an argument.
Domestic violence: Stephen L. Blanchard, 23, of 344 Melrose Ave., Boardman, faced a felony charge after a township woman alleged that, despite her pregnancy, Blanchard pushed her backward to the ground during an argument. The woman complained of pain to her side and stomach.
Theft: A woman reported her mother, of Boardman Boulevard, had her purse stolen.
Arrest: Police investigating a possible stabbing in the 200 block of Mathews Road charged 24-year-old Renee L. Sass, 245 Mathews, with obstructing official business after saying she had hindered their investigation of the assault. Sass also was cited on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
June 27
Burglary: To an apartment in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle, after someone forced open a sliding-glass door. A $1,000, 50-inch TV was taken.
