Barbecue to benefit sick 2-year-old boy

A barbecue fundraiser is being organized as a benefit for 2-year-old Finnian Marsh and his family from 2 to 5 p.m. July 9 at Gibson Heights Second Church, 755 E. Dewey Ave.

Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 11 and free for kids 5 and under. Featured will be a dunking booth, cornhole tournament (weather permitting), basket auction, 50-50 raffle and a bake sale.

Available food will be burgers and dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon, cake, punch and coffee.

Finnian was born with a rare genetic disease called MPS 1, or Hurler’s disease. His life expectancy is 10 years at best, and he must continually undergo grueling, expensive treatments.
