Campbell woman to appear on ‘Dress’

Kristin Valva of Campbell is heading to New York on Thursday to tape a segment that will appear on a future episode of the TLC reality series “Say Yes to the Dress.”
Valva, 23, is a Campbell Memorial High graduate and an education major at Youngstown State University. She is engaged to Billy Katsourakis, 26, also of Campbell. Katsourakis works with APBN Inc., his family’s painting company.
In “Say Yes to the Dress,” young women visit Kleinfeld, one of the world’s premier bridal salons, in Manhattan.
Described by TLC as “part fashion show, part bridal story, part family therapy,” the show reveals the behind-the-scenes work that the staff of the upscale store undertakes to satisfy each bride’s wishes.
The show airs at 9 p.m. Fridays. Valva, who applied to be on the show several months ago, said she does not yet know when her segment will air.
Valva and Katsourakis are also finalists in an online contest to win a wedding package in the Florida Keys valued at $50,000.
To vote for the couple, go to Facebook.com and search for “We’ve got the Keys.” Go to the page, click the “like” button, then go to photos. Valva and Katsourakis are the eighth photo. To vote for them, click “like.” Deadline to vote is Feb. 11.
Valva said that if she and her fianc win the contest, their wedding will be Nov. 11. If they don’t win, it will be around Memorial Day 2012.
