HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY Ann Schenkel

Born: Jan. 29, 1911, in Campbell.

Parents: Steven and Susie Stenchick.

Siblings: A sister and brother.

Homes: Family moved to Fowler in 1915, and she grew up there on a farm, where all the kids had jobs to do. She took care of the chickens.

Schooling: She graduated from Fowler High School in 1929 and in 1932 graduated from a nursing school in Youngstown as a registered nurse.

Employment: She was a private-duty nurse for 50 years before retiring in 1982.

Personal life: Married Chuck Schenkel in 1944. He died in 2006.

Memberships: Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McDonald.

Residence: Shepherd of the Valley in Niles since Feb. 21, 2007.

Celebration: Her family decorated her room and provided a cake for residents and staff to share with the honoree.
