POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

Jan. 21

Theft: A license plate was removed from a car in the 500 block of West Liberty Street.

Burglary: A residence in the 100 block of Moore Street was broken into.

Jan. 22

Theft: Tools were missing from a garage in the 1100 block of Fairchild Drive.

Jan. 23

Assault: Police received a report of a fight at a North Main Street business, where they detained a Warren woman.

Possible assault: Authorities responded to a call regarding a Parish Avenue woman who may have been assaulted.

Jan. 24

Theft: A construction worker in the 100 block of West Liberty Street reported the theft of a cell phone.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Myron Street was found with broken windows and flattened tires.

Menacing: A man told police his former stepson threatened him at a West Liberty Street gas station.

Jan. 25

Recovered property: A man found and turned over to police a briefcase that belonged to a township man.

Jan. 26

Harassment: A Prescott Street man told police that his estranged wife has been making such calls.

Burglary: To a garage and residence in the 400 block of South Main Street.

GIRARD

Jan. 23

Assault: A home-health-care aide caring for a Church Hill Road man told police the man became combative, then struck the accuser’s body and arms.

Jan. 24

Theft: A North Lorain Avenue man accused his son of stealing $400 worth of medications from him.

Theft by deception: A Trumbull Avenue man discovered his phone number had been given to another phone provider without consent.

Jan. 25

Aggravated menacing: Two South Davis Street residents said a man called threatening to sexually assault and kill one of them, along with several of the person’s relatives.

Jan. 27

Burglary: To a residence in the 500 block of North Avenue, from which a $2,000, 55-inch TV was stolen.

LIBERTY

Jan. 21

Theft by deception: A worker for Chumley Motorsports, 6470 Belmont Ave., discovered someone had used the business’s credit-card information to pay a phone bill.

Counterfeit: Police charged 66-year-old Raymond Hardy of Los Angeles with criminal simulation, a first-degree misdemeanor, after accusing him of using phony bills to buy a money order at a township money center. Two fake $10 bills were recovered, a report said.

Arrest: Fred S. Deangelis, 33, was taken into custody at his residence, 5844 Mount Everett Drive, Hubbard, on a warrant from the township.

Theft: A 53-year-old Youngstown man reportedly rented but failed to return a $600 carpet steam-cleaning device to Rental Corral, 1530 Gypsy Lane.

Vandalism: Eggs were thrown at a vehicle’s windshield and hood in the 4700 block of Logan Arms Drive.

Jan. 22

Arrest: Authorities responded to a dispute on Monticello Boulevard and arrested 19-year-old Taleyla S. Gregory, 4110 Monticello, on a township warrant.

Arrest: Police picked up Matthew J. Crowl, 32, of 513 Cherry St., Salem. He was wanted on a warrant from Liberty.

Trespassing: Chris M. Richards, 50, of 349 Forsythe Ave., Girard, faced a criminal-trespassing charge after officers responded to an unwanted person at a Belmont Avenue store. Richards had been warned several times to stay off the property, a report showed.

Jan. 24

Recovered property: Officers investigating an abandoned vehicle on Daffodil Lane learned the 1992 Ford truck had been stolen in Hubbard Township.

Jan. 25

Breaking and entering: A rear door to an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive was pried open before someone stole copper from heating registers in 12 units.

Identity theft: A Jo Ann Lane man noticed an unauthorized $55 charge apparently made in Dublin.

Damage: Someone drove through and damaged a lawn in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive.

Theft: A Tuttle Lane man reported a $1,700 laptop computer missing.

Menacing: A woman at a Belmont Avenue eatery told police a woman made threats implying the accuser would be found dead.

Jan. 26

Assault: A 14-year-old Liberty boy faced charges of assault and juvenile offenses after another boy reported having been shot in the leg with a BB gun.

Robbery: Bernard Taylor, 46, of 1872 Cordova Ave., Youngstown, was charged after five packages of insect killer were stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Taylor also struggled with a store official who tried to detain him, police said.

Vandalism: Someone did $500 in damage to an automated-teller machine in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue.

Arrest: Liberty police assisted the Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitives Task Force with the arrest of 27-year-old Steven T. Golden Jr. at his home, 3415 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Golden was wanted by Portage County authorities on a felonious-assault charge.

Stolen property: A Canfield couple handed to police a $700 laptop computer they believe had been stolen from a Liberty Plaza business.
