Man convicted twice of murder

Columbiana County Prosecutor Robert Herron said a sentencing date has not been set for Andrew Irwin, who now has been convicted twice of stabbing Emily Foreman to death over drugs in Liverpool Township on Aug. 23, 2006.

A common-pleas jury found Irwin guilty late Tuesday in his second trial.

The 7th District Court of Appeals had ordered a new trial for Irwin because the judges said he received inadequate counsel at his first trial in 2007.

In a call to police on the day of the slaying, a person who said he was “Andy” said there had been a stabbing.

Irwin told police that a woman had attacked him.

Herron said Wednesday that Foreman suffered 18 different knife wounds.

Three of the stabs were in her back.

Each lung was punctured by a knife.

The prosecutor said Irwin faces 15 years to life for the murder charge.

Irwin has pleaded guilty to a charge of vandalism after he spit on staff members in the county jail while he was waiting for the second murder trial.

He has not been sentenced on that charge.
