Ursuline Sisters adds 7 associates

Staff report

CANFIELD

The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown will welcome seven new associates during a ceremony and Mass at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Motherhouse Chapel, 4250 Shields Road.

A reception will follow.

New associates who join 38 other active associates, are:

Monique Smith, who volunteers with Ursuline Sisters at the Dorothy Day House in Youngstown and Habitat for Humanity Restore.

Scott R. Schulick, Ursuline Center board member.

Nicole McElroy, a former Beatitude House volunteer.

Lindy Kubic, volunteer with projects to build housing in New Orleans and Belize and renewal team member of St. Michael Church.

Jackie and Sean Fyock, who have traveled to El Salvador on missionary trips and are involved in Retrouvaille of Youngstown.

Alma Ciriello, volunteer at the motherhouse and Potter’s Wheel.

The associate program forges a deeper relationship between the Ursuline Sisters and Catholic adults who share the nuns’ values and mission. The program also is a way the Ursuline Sisters further the mission of St. Angela Merici, a 16th-century Italian woman who founded the Ursuline Order. Her feast day is Thursday. The associate program is in its tenth year.
