Driver leads 3-mile chase in wrong way on turnpike

Lordstown

A North Lawrence man is in Trumbull County Jail after being arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after a three-mile chase in the wrong direction down the Ohio Turnpike.

Zachariah Donohue, 21, was charged Tuesday with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding, improper backing and driving the wrong way.

His blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.174 — more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. Troopers from the Hiram post reported that Donohue tried to enter the turnpike through an exit lane in Lordstown around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

He backed his car into a snow plow, drove through the toll exit and continued westbound on the eastbound ramp before hitting a second snow plow, a news release states.

He continued driving in the wrong direction for several miles before a trooper spotted him.

His car reached nearly 100 miles per hour before exiting onto an entrance ramp in Lordstown.
