CLEVELAND

Norris Cole scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Jeremy Montgomery scored 17 points to lead Cleveland State. The Vikings (18-3, 7-2 Horizon League) held Wright State to 26.8 percent shooting (11 of 41). Aaron Pogue added 15 points for Wright State, while Vaughn Duggins added 14 points.

Loyola 68, UIC 59

CHICAGO

Geoff McCammon hit five 3-pointers among his 19 points to lead Loyola over UIC. Courtney Stanley scored 13 points and Ben Averkamp 12 for the Ramblers (12-8, 3-6 Horizon League), who won their second in a row. Andy Polka had 11 rebounds and four assists. Robo Kreps’ 19 points led the Flames (5-15, 0-8), who lost their eighth straight.

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Akron 63, Bowling Green 58

AKRON

Darryl Roberts scored 17 points and Akron used a late run to beat Bowling Green. Steve McNees (Shenango) finished with 10 points for Akron, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Jordon Crawford scored 16 points to lead the Falcons (8-11, 3-2).

Ball State 70, Toledo 60

TOLEDO

Randy Davis scored 24 points to lead Ball State to its seventh straight victory. The Cardinals (13-4) are off to their best start since 1997-98. Malcolm Griffin led Toledo with 25 points.

Buffalo 73, Ohio 68

ATHENS

Zach Filzen’s career-high six 3-pointers led to a career-high 23 points to help Buffalo. The Bulls (11-6, 3-2 MAC) trailed by 18 at halftime, 43-25, before making 18 of 25 shots in the second half (72 percent) in a matchup of the league’s top two scoring teams. Ohio’s scoring leader, D.J. Cooper, was limited to just six points.

W. Michigan 82, N. Illinois 80

KALAMAZOO, Mich.

Matt Stainbrook scored on a layup at the buzzer and finished with 18 points for Western Michigan. Flenard Whitfield and Demetrius Ward each added 15 point for the Broncos (10-8, 3-2 MAC), who won their seventh straight at home. Xavier Silas led the Huskies (6-11, 2-3) with 23 points.

BIG TEN

No. 15 Minnesota 69, Michigan 64

ANN ARBOR, MICH.

Trevor Mbakwe and Ralph Sampson III scored 13 points apiece to lead Minnesota over Michigan. The Golden Gophers (15-4, 4-3 Big Ten) trailed 41-40 before going on a 12-3 run in the second half. Chip Armelin scored twice in a row on similar drives from the right wing, and Rodney Williams added a 3-pointer to make it 52-44. Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 20 points for the Wolverines, who have lost six straight.
