John Larson rolls to win in Youngstown Senior Singles
John Larson rolled 1443 to win the “D” division of the 2011 Youngstown Senior Singles Bowling Tournament, while Doug Zolla was runner-up with 1367, followed by third-place Joe Nuzzo’s 1306.
The event was held recently at Amron and Boardman Lanes.
Walt Evanowski won the Super Seniors with 1329, while Ted Gabler’s 1311 was second best. Jake Jackson’s 1293 followed.
In “A” Division, Tom Timlin won with 1376, Fred Zagotti’s 1360 was second, Tom Hood’s 1345 was third, and Dave Yohn’s 1327 was fourth.
Dave Ifft’s 1408 was tops in “B” while Jim Waring took second with 1375, Bob Krompegel third with 1373 and Carl Pasternack fourth with 1319.
“C” division champ was Eddie McElroy with 1448, followed by George Finelli (1376), Rob Theis (1323) and Ron Steiner (1315).
The next tournament will be the John Bossone Memorial Senior Masters, Feb. 5-6 and Feb. 12-13 at Mahoning Valley Lanes, Bell-Wick, Wedgewood and Holiday Bowl.

High school
The Austintown Fitch girls team and Ursuline’s boys won the 8th annual Martin Luther King Jr. High School Bowling Tournament at McKinley Lanes.
Fitch had a total pinfall of 1729, while Ursuline registered 1911 — just three pins ahead of Hubbard.
Fitch’s Victoria Berquist had a high girls game of 279 while Crestwood’s Harry Illner rolled a 299.
Girls’ runnerup was Niles with 1623, followed by Girard (1569), Ursuline (1432) and Liberty (1400).
Rounding out the top five boys finishers were Fitch (1865), Crestwood (1838) and Champion (1734).
other winners
Rob Vukovich’s 299-822 paced Tri-County Classic at Holiday on 1-11-11 and Matt Clipse had 300-802 in St. Christine’s Men at Wedgewood on Jan. 6. The prior week, Clipse rolled 289-784.
First-half champion of West Side Gals was the Pizza Joe’s team of Betty Mirich, Dee Sturtz, Cheryl Woodward and Betty Kana.
Winner of the second 3rd in Fiber Clean Seniors at Boardman was the Lakeview Farms team of Ken Stoddart, Ron Rhodes and Kenny Combs.
Jason Jablonski picked up the 7-10 split in Window World.
