Successful students
Youngstown
Youngstown State University students who go above and beyond in their academic achievements are featured in a new Student Success Stories website at http://web.ysu.edu/studentsuccessstories.
The Web page details the activities of the university’s most accomplished current students. The page, developed by the YSU Office of Marketing and Communications, features more than a dozen of the “best of the best” students at YSU, including students who have won prestigious scholarships, received grants to conduct research and placed high in state and national academic competitions.
The page will be continually updated with stories about successful students. The students are also being featured in a new, regular “Student Success Stories” section of YSU Magazine. If you have a suggestion for a current student to include on the Student Success Stories site, contact Ron Cole, director of University Communications, at racole01@ysu.edu or 330-941-3285.

Thirteen years ago, Richard T. Naples Sr. of Niles and founder of the Wholesale Fireworks chain of stores, created the Richard T. Naples Sr. Education Foundation Inc.
It’s a perpetual fund that has already awarded more than 180 $500 college scholarships and 100 $800 scholarships.
The scholarship is available again this year. The scholarships are available to current high school seniors and college students who live in Trumbull, Mahoning and Stark counties.
Naples, who owns fireworks stores in Niles, Hubbard and Canton, established the scholarship program to help young adults defray a portion of the costs of a higher education which includes not only colleges and universities but also institutes for fine and performing arts as well as trade and vocational schools.
Naples and his family members, who sit on the board of trustees, are committed to higher education and have hired many area high school and college students throughout the 30 years Wholesale Fireworks has been in business.
The deadline for this year’s scholarship is March 31.
High school students may obtain applications from their guidance counselors.
