Kasich to make first visit to Valley as governor Tuesday at Lordstown

LORDSTOWN

Gov. John Kasich will tour GM’s Lordstown Assembly Plant Tuesday during his first visit to the Mahoning Valley since he was elected in November.

The governor will be accompanied by Valley lawmakers, including U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th; Ohio Senate Minority Leader Capri Cafaro of Hubbard, D-32nd; and state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Canfield, D-33rd.

The politicians also will discuss the Mahoning Valley’s economic development needs.

Kasich met with GM executives recently in Detroit to discuss how he could work with them to help them be more successful in Ohio.

“I love the Cruze. It’s a great car that I’m proud to say is built in Ohio and I’m looking forward to meeting the folks who build it. I’m also eager to hear from local leaders on how I can work with them to meet our shared goal of leveraging the Valley’s assets to help create jobs and revive the economy,” Kasich said in a press release.
