Canfield swimmers win AAC titles

The Canfield swimming and diving teams swept the All-American Conference team titles on Jan. 15 at Hubbard.

The girls defeated Hubbard, Poland, Beaver Local. Salem and Howland with an impressive score of 505. Hubbard was second with 298.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Taylor Rodenbaugh, Gia Velasquez, Mallory Allen and Olivia Williamson took first place. Gia Velasquez also won the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke and was a member of the winning 200-yard free relay team, along with Leslie Davis, Olivia Williamson and Hilary Allen.

Hilary Allen took first place in the 200-yard free. Mallory Allen won several events, including the 50-yard free, 100-yard fly and was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay, along with Briana O’Malley, Leslie Davis and Hilary Allen. Taylor Rodenbaugh won the 100-yard backstroke.

The Canfield boys finished way ahead of second-place Hubbard (321) with 528 points, Beaver Local scored 256, Poland had 157, Howland had 65 and Salem scored 23.

Gavin Trebilcock broke the pool records in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.46 and the 200 IM with 2:00.08. Trebilcock was a member of the winning 200 yard medley relay team.

Daniel Bogen took first in the 500-yard free and the 200-yard free. Drew Wellham won the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard fly. He was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team and the 400-yard free relay team. Ryan O’Malley earned first place in the 100-yard free and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team.

Mark Dalvin earned a win as a member of the 200-yard medley relay team, as well as a victory in the 200-yard free relay, along with Nick Montalto, Ryan O’Malley and Gavin Trebilcock.

The other swimmers who made up the winning 400-yard free relay team were Nick Montalto, Jake Smith and Daniel Bogen. SClB
