POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Jan. 11

Identity theft: A complaint was filed in the 2900 block of Algonquin Drive, where a resident discovered an unauthorized $193 charge.

Jan. 12

Burglary: To a Shallow Creek Drive residence, from which a firearm was taken.

BOARDMAN

Jan. 13

Theft: A woman in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard reported the theft of a package containing a $400 computer.

Theft: Ten video games were stolen from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Debra A. Kutsch, 46, of 25 N. Bon Air Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of theft and possession of criminal tools after eight DVDs had been stolen from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Theft: Katie L. Trott of 266 Overlook Drive, Hillsville, Pa., and Nicoletti A. Lombardo, 516 Wallace Ave., Bessemer, Pa., both 18, were charged with stealing about $165 worth of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into an empty home in the 30 block of Gertrude Avenue and removed $1,000 worth of copper piping.

Theft: Police charged a Youngstown boy, 17, in the theft of $29 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A $75 garbage can was taken from a residence in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue.

Theft: An Aquadale Drive man discovered some of his income-tax forms missing.

Theft: A global-positioning-system unit and an MP3 player were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 6700 block of Appleridge Circle.

Theft/drugs: Police responding to the theft of a cell phone at Walmart arrested 26-year-old Michael A. Faiola Jr., 1650 Lynn Ave., Poland, and Jason M. Mulgrew, 32, of 763 Fifth St., Struthers, on theft and drug-related charges when, they said, a rock that tested positive for heroin and a glass pipe were found.

Jan. 14

Arrest: Boardman police assisted Youngstown authorities with a vehicle pursuit before 25-year-old Joseph M. Rudolphi, 119 Chambers Ave., Campbell, crashed his car and was apprehended near Interstate 680 in Youngstown. He was wanted on four warrants.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 300 block of Boardman-Canfield Road led to the arrest of 28-year-old Erin R. Hallas, 7377 Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, who was wanted by Youngstown authorities on a charge of failing to comply with a court order.

Theft: Brian R. Fetty Jr., 29, of 122 N. Lorain St., Girard, faced a felony count after 207 copper fittings were stolen from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd. Fetty also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Misuse of a credit card: A Melrose Avenue woman noticed a $100 unauthorized transaction with her debit card.

Theft: Police charged Brian L. Thomas, 37, of 2714 Cain St., Youngstown, with the theft of a $70 cell phone from Walmart.

Harassment: A Firnley Avenue woman reported a series of such calls.

Jan. 15

Arrest: A vehicle registration check at the Southern Park Mall led to 25-year-old MarquettM. Boone’s arrest in the 7200 block of Market Street. Boone, who listed Youngstown and Elyria addresses, was wanted by Lorain County authorities on charges of contempt of court and theft.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Glen Park Drive woman accused her son of taking her 1999 Buick vehicle without permission.

Drugs: A 17-year-old Petersburg girl was cited during a traffic stop on Southern Boulevard when, officers said, suspected marijuana was found.

Assault: A Mineral Ridge woman told police a female juvenile grabbed her 12-year-old daughter’s hair and slammed the girl’s head into a wall several times at a McClurg Road business.

Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 7500 block of Market Street.

Jan. 16

Arrest: Police responded to a fight between two women on Tippecanoe Road, then charged Keith A. McMurray Jr., 25, of 6721 Tippecanoe with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. An intoxicated McMurray refused to calm down and cooperate with police, a report said.

Aggravated menacing: A Firnley Avenue man got word that several people supposedly were coming to the man’s residence to kill him.

Theft: A woman’s $600 cell phone was stolen in the 700 block of Presidential Drive.

Theft/misuse of a credit card: A woman at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant noticed her wallet missing, then discovered a credit card was used to make two purchases without consent.

Fraud: An employee with Goldstein’s Furniture & Bedding, 300 Boardman-Poland Road, reported three women financed $4,178 worth of furniture and used someone else’s identity.

Felonious assault: An Indianola Road man told police a friend punched his mouth, knocking loose one tooth, and dug his thumb into the accuser’s eye after being refused a beer.

Domestic violence: Kevin C. Hoover, 37, of 4537 Euclid Blvd., Boardman, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged that during an argument, Hoover threw a cigarette lighter, striking and cutting her face.

Theft: An Erskine Avenue man reported the theft of money from his residence.

Jan. 17

Drugs: Charges were pending against a 57-year-old Youngstown woman after authorities responded to someone passed out in a car near Southern Boulevard. A pill bottle with someone else’s medication was discovered, police said.

Breaking and entering: Police responded to a possible burglary at an Argyle Avenue residence, where they charged Geoffrey A. Cowher, 111 Beechwood Drive, Boardman, and Troy K. McCracken, 4098 Kirk Road, Austintown, both 29, with breaking and entering, vandalism and possession of criminal tools. Authorities found both men in the home, from which copper piping was stolen, a report said.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for Verizon Wireless, 474 Boardman-Canfield Road, reported an irate customer threatened over the phone to shoot a few employees.

Arrest: Police checked a vehicle in the 5200 block of Market Street and arrested 33-year-old Adam J. Blanchard IV, 327 E. Philadelphia Ave., Youngstown, upon learning he was wanted on several misdemeanor warrants.

Theft: A 17-year-old township boy was charged after a family member, of Erskine Avenue, reported $80 missing.
