Ohio authorities seek man in police dog stabbing
McARTHUR, Ohio (AP) — Ohio authorities are looking for a suspect accused of stealing a police vehicle with a police dog inside, then stabbing a second police dog called in to help search.
The search was under way today near the Meigs and Vinton county line in southern Ohio.
Lt. Gary Lewis of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the theft of the Vinton County sheriff’s vehicle happened Thursday night after a sheriff’s deputy was assaulted.
Lewis says after the suspect was spotted today, a police dog provided by the Meigs County sheriff’s office was stabbed.
The whereabouts of the Vinton County police dog were unclear.
WSYX-TV in Columbus reports that deputies from Athens, Gallia, Meigs, Jackson and Vinton counties are involved in the search.
