CANFIELD

Argus Lodge 545 Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, 5050 Shields Road, installed the organization’s elected and appointed officers for 2011 during the 125th annual installation ceremony on Dec. 10.

Richard Percic of Lisbon was installed as master and will preside over the lodge during 2011. The title of master, instead of president, reflects the Masonic tradition of using ceremonies and titles from the stonemasons of the Middle Ages. When the great cathedrals of Europe were being built, the Mason in charge of the building site was referred to as a “master of the work.”

Also inducted into leadership positions were Paul McGraw, senior warden; Russell W. Gillam Jr., junior warden; Donald L. Huntley, secretary; Russell W. Gillam III, treasurer; Lyle K. Orr Jr., chaplain; David Giudici, senior deacon; Mark Roca, junior deacon; Thomas Eaton, Tyler; Denny Furman, lodge education officer; and R. Christopher Gillam, trustee.

Gillam III served as master of ceremonies.

Installing officers were Gillam Jr., Huntley, Dale E. Hawkins, R. Christopher Gillam, George E. Brainard, Thomas J. Hallden, and Paul L. McGraw.

Presenting the officers for the ceremony were Donald Lucarel and Rick Lieb, installing marshals.

Christopher Brocious photographed the evening’s events. To view the photos or for information about the lodge, visit www.arguslodge.org.

Argus Lodge was chartered in 1886 and is among the 26 lodges with about 6,500 members that make up Ohio’s 24th Masonic District.
