Funeral set for Pa. soldier killed in Afghanistan


ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Arrangements are set for an Erie-area soldier who was one of three people killed last week by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

Twenty-year-old 20-year-old Army Spc. Jarrid L. King, of Harborcreek Township, was killed Jan. 12 along with two other members of his engineering battalion from Fort Drum, N.Y.

The Dusckas Funeral Home tells the Erie Times-News that viewing will be Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

King’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Erie, with burial to follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

King had enlisted in the Army in March 2009.
