If GOP House is looking for scandals, it won’t have far to look

Now that the Republicans have control of the House, they are saying that President Obama and his administration are the most corrupt ever seen in Washington. They are planning to launch investigations against him and his administration, yet another waste of time and taxpayer money. They should be focusing on more important issues like jobs and our economy. Looking forward, not backward. The Republicans must have missed their history classes, so let’s bring them up to speed on corruption in Washington.

We will start with President Nixon and his Watergate scandal. He resigned just before he was to be impeached and his Vice-President, Spiro Agnew also resigned. Any corruption there?

Next we have President Reagan, he and his administration were involved in the Iran-Contra, Savings and Loan, Pentagon and HUD scandals. Plus 140 assorted officials of his administration were either indicted and/or convicted or resigned for any number of reasons. Might corruption have been involved?

Now we come to President Bush and his cronies in power. Enron, Tyco and World Com where people not only lost their jobs but also lost their pensions. The secret meetings, the lies to get us into not one but two no-win wars costing us too many young American lives and billions of dollars borrowed from China, outing a CIA agent, which is treasonous to say the least, lobbyist Jack Abramoff ... need I go on?

Mr. Bush also gave Wall Street, banks and insurance companies $390 billion before he left office. This money created not one job. It did line the pockets of the already rich though. Couldn’t have been any corruption here.

If it wasn’t for the shape this country is in, with no jobs, the economy struggling and the wars continuing, these allegations against the current administration would be laughable. But we have more important issues at hand. Republicans need to stop judging and start governing. After all, we have the best House (of Representatives) money can buy.
