Free movie night Friday in Cortland

CORTLAND

The Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will have its second free movie night at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., Cortland.

This month’s movie is “Pale Male,” a documentary detailing the story of a red-tailed hawk trying to survive in New York City and the people who follow his journey. The documentary originally aired on PBS as part of its “Nature” series.

The soil and water conservation district also is trying to raise awareness about Birds of Flight Sanctuary of Howland, which rescues and rehabilitates birds of prey and waterfowl.

The soil and water conservation district will collect donations of cat litter, bleach copy paper, business cards, shovels and large brooms. Donations also will be accepted at the movie night, and a red-tailed hawk from Birds of Flight Sanctuary may make an appearance, depending on the weather.
