What is STAT?

The Student Threat Assessment Team (STAT) is a group of Youngstown State University staff members who provide resource information to faculty, staff and administrators dealing with students who may be distressed, disruptive, threatening or problematic.

STAT objectives

Early intervention, support and response to students displaying distressed, disruptive and/or threatening behaviors.

Engage faculty and staff in effective reporting of and response to distressed, disruptive and/or threatening students.

Centralize collection and assessment of “red flag” student behaviors and correlate similar problematic actions to identify the potential for threatening, violent and/or suicidal behaviors while avoiding stigmatization of mental health issues and stereotype-based profiling.

Coordinate follow-up to ensure that resources, support and services are effectively distributed.
