SENIOR CITIZENS


AARP 4611 will plan the 2011 calendar at an executive board meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church on Parmelee Avenue. At noon Leslie Bracel will discuss Social Security. Members will have a gift exchange and will celebrate October, November and December birthdays. There will be a 50-50 raffle, and membership dues will be collected. 55-Plus Club of Mineral Ridge will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church. After the meeting and card games, members will go out to eat.

Campbell Memorial High School January and June Classes of 1947 will meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Denny’s in Boardman. All members and spouses are welcome.

Croatian Pensioners of the Mahoning Valley will meet at noon Thursday at Lodge 66 at the Croatian Center. Dues will be collected. Rick Otterson will speak on Medicare. Bingo and cards will be played. Holy Name Seniors will have no meeting in January. The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 27 in Founders Hall.

Girard Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the center, 16 N. State St. Dues for 2011 will be collected. Members are asked to take canned goods for the Emmanuel Center. Dessert will be served.

The Girard Oldtimers will meet at 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Lamancusa Restaurant.

Happy Wanderers will meet at noon Friday. Ted Hickey will speak about the Hubbard Historical Society and the history of Hubbard. Those whose last names begin with the initials M-Z are asked to take cookies. The hospitality committee will be Irene DeStasio, Alma Ludwick, Ilene Hudavoni, Rose Ashman and Theresa Knebel. Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played, and Ted Conner will give the devotions. Members are reminded to take a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. OBES Retirees will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Friendly’s on Route 224 in Poland. All OBES retirees are welcome.

Public Employees Retirees, Mahoning Chapter 18, will meet at noon Feb. 1 at the Saxon Club, 710 Meridian Road, Youngstown. There will be a money raffle. The buffet will feature meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, salad, rolls, coffee and tea and cherry pie. The cost is $9 for members or guests, payable at the door.
