Free computer classes at main, Newport libraries


YOUNGSTOWN

Free, two-hour basic computer and Internet-skills classes for beginners will be offered this month at the main and Newport branches of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

Initial sessions will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. and noon Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 26 at the main library, 305 Wick Ave.

Initial sessions will also be offered at 2:30 and 5 p.m. Thursday, 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at Newport Library, 3730 Market St.

The second session will be offered at noon Jan. 26 at main library. The second session also will be given at 5 p.m. Jan. 27 and 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at Newport Library.

Under the two-year, federally funded Every Citizen Online grant, the library system will recover 70 percent of the $47,000 cost of offering the classes. Call 330-744-8636 to register.
