Junior L.J Sutton (Mooney) scored 13 second half points and finished with 15 to go with seven rebounds as the top-ranked Cavaliers (18-0, 9-0 American Mideast Conference) won their 42nd straight home game. Jeremy Shardo added 13 points and eight assists. Brandon Short led the Cougars with 11 points.

Mount Union 79, Heidelberg 73

TIFFIN

Dave Pellerite, Ben Hodkinson and Matt Wier (Mohawk) each scored a team-high 15 points to put Mount Union in a third place tie in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Both teams traded buckets to keep the lead at two and Mount Union (7-8, 5-3) hit six free throws in the final minute to put the game away. Heidelberg (7-8, 5-3) got 18 points from Dane Givner.

Ohio Wesleyan 71, Hiram 58

HIRAM

Tim Brady scored 22 points to lead three Bishops in double figures. Ohio Welseyan (8-8, 4-3 North Coast Athletic Conference) used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to take control and never trailed. Andy Winters had 12 points and Dre White added 10 points in the victory. Andrew Wiegand (Amherst/Firelands) scored 10 points to lead the Terriers (8-8, 2-5).

St. Vincent 58, Grove City 48

GROVE CITY, PA.

Grove City led 25-20 at halftime but 13 second-half turnovers helped Saint Vincent (11-5, 4-2 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) rally for the win. The Bearcats surged ahead with a 13-2 run in the second half. Dennis Bassich led the Bearcats with 16 points and B.J. McGill contributed 14. Junior center Kris Verderber led Grove City (4-11, 1-5) with 15 points.

Geneva 93, Westminster 80

BEAVER FALLS, PA.

Sixty-three of Geneva’s 93 points came from three players as Richard Colick led the Golden Tornadoes (11-4) with 30 points and 11 rebounds, while Lambros Svingos bucketed 19 and Brandon Sopko scored 14. Four Titans scored in double figures led by freshman guard Christian Shea, who had 14 points. Junior guard Doug Smith came off the bench and scored 13 points for Westminster (3-13), while freshman guard Anthony Thomas (Union) and sophomore guard Reuben King scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Thiel 55, Thomas More 52

GREENVILLE, PA.

Devon Adams hit a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to help secure Thiel’s fifth straight victory. Blair Rozenblad (Kennedy Catholic) had a team-high 14 points and six rebounds while Lance Randall (Ursuline) added 10 points and six rebounds for the Tomcats (11-4, 7-0). Colt Stafford led Thomas More (8-8, 4-2) with 18 points and six rebounds. Brian Muse added 16 points and four rebounds while Aaron Miller chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.

Indiana (Pa.) 84, Slippery Rock 67

INDIANA, PA.

Senior forward Maron Brown scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to become the 21st player in Slippery Rock history to score 1,000 career points but it wasn’t enough for The Rock (11-5, 1-1 PSAC West). Junior Devin Taylor (New Castle) added 12 points. Indiana (10-3, 2-0) never trailed.

WOMEN

Mount Union 74, Heidelberg 46

Brittany Kilgore had 12 points and five rebounds and Katie Crider had 10 for Mount Union (12-2, 6-2). Jenny Miller scored 11 points with seven rebounds for Heidelberg (1-14, 0-8).

Westminster 62, Geneva 50

BEAVER FALLS, PA.

Junior forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald) led the Titans (4-11) with 14 points. Westminster finished with a 22-8 run in the final five minutes including a 14-2 run in the final 2:13 rally. Westminster shot 12-for-12 from the free-throw line in the final two minutes. Katie Hughes (Mooney) had 10 points and eight rebounds for Westminster. Beth DeLuca led Geneva (7-8) with 13 points.

Ohio Wesleyan 79, Hiram 68

HIRAM

Sophomore guard Chelsea Kovach equaled her career-high with 21 points but it wasn’t enough for Hiram (8-7, 1-4 NCAC). OWU was led in scoring by Pam Quigney with a game-high 24 points. Tyler Cordell was second with 18 points and Kayla Gordon rounded out the high scorers with 15 points to go along with a team-tying high nine rebounds.

Bethany 58, Chatham 50

PITTSBURGH

After making only 5-of-14 from the charity stripe through the first 39 minutes, Bethany was 5-for-6 in the final minute, including a pair from juniors Renee Shepherd and Audra Droginske, to seal the victory. Junior Katelynn Hackathorn had nine points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Carly Garneau also hit for nine, her season-high. The Bison (7-8, 2-5) snapped a four-game losing streak, while Chatham (5-10, 1-6) has lost four straight.

St. Vincent 64, Grove City 56

GROVE CITY, PA.

Grove City led 50-42 with 12:50 remaining but Saint Vincent closed the game on a 22-6 run. Saint Vincent held the Wolverines scoreless for over six minutes during the stretch. Senior forward Christine Slater led Grove City with a 20-point, 11-rebound game while sophomore guard Leah Gibson added 15 points and five assists. Brittany Sedlock led Saint Vincent (14-1, 7-0) with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Indiana (Pa.) 71, Slippery Rock 40

INDIANA, PA.

Indiana (10-4, 2-0 PSAC West) used a 14-2 run late in the first half to take control. Danielle Smith scored 11 points, while Emilee Vitez added eight points and nine rebounds for The Rock (2-12, 0-2). Three players finished in double figures for IUP, led by Eryn Withers with a game-high 17 points. Sarah Pastorek added 12 points and Katelyn Marshall chipped in 10.

Thomas More 77, Thiel 65

GREENVILLE, PA.

Chelsea Tolliver finished with a team-high 15 points for Thomas More (15-0, 7-0 PAC). Sophomore Kelly Muffley had 17 points and five rebounds and sophomore Kelly Barzak (Howland) added 13 points and six rebounds for Thiel (3-12, 2-5).
