Debut: The new Dick Clark rose, a 2011 All-America Rose Selection winner, made its television debut Jan. 1 during the Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif.

Rose details: Named after the celebrity who traditionally hosts the New Year’s Eve party in New York City, the rose features a blend of cream and cherry blushed with burgundy petals, shiny green foliage and long stems.

Comment: On his blog, Clark, now 81, writes about the rose, saying: “A couple of weeks ago, the preview plants arrived. Kari and I had them planted around property and created a special garden. The plants are thriving and the buds are out. Soon we shall see our first bloom. It’s one of the many wonderful and unusual things that have happened to me over the years. I suppose if one lives long enough, you see it all ... even a DICK CLARK ROSE!”

Float details: More than 80 stems of the fragrant flower were featured on a Camelot-theme float by Bayer Advanced. Orchids, daisies and carnations also made up the display.

About Bayer: Bayer is known for rose-care products made with systemic granules that are worked into the soil to feed the plant and provide insect and disease control.
