Town One Streetscapes, Inc. has completed the College Street project, which greatly improved the entrance to College Street from state Route 170 in the Village of Poland by installing curbed islands with trees.

This project was made possible by two significant private gifts — site engineering donated by Ted Heineman and soil contributed by the Village of Poland.

The project was designed by the 4M Company with landscaping installed by Create-A-Scape.

College Street in the Village of Poland is one of the oldest streets in Mahoning County. There are numerous historic homes dating from the 1850s lining the street. Also, Poland Middle School stands at 47 College Street and President McKinley attended school there when it was known as the Poland Academy.

Town One Streetscapes, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation that started in 1997 under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission is to assist Poland Township and the Village of Poland with improving the main roads with sidewalks and trees.

Current officers are President Larry Warren, Vice-President Jeff McCreery and Secretary/Treasurer John Scotford, Jr.

Meetings are on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Poland library. Individuals wanting to join may attend any meeting.
