Sooners coach Stoops to highlight clinic

Youngstown native and Oklahoma Head Football Coach Bob Stoops will be the featured speaker at the 26th Annual YSU Bob Dove Coaching Clinic on Feb. 19 at Stambaugh Stadium.

Stoops recently led the Sooners to No. 6 National ranking, the Big 12 Championship and a victory over UConn in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. In his 12 seasons as OU’s head coach, he has recorded an impressive 129-31 mark while guiding the program to a National Championship in 2000.

Stoops recruited YSU coach Eric Wolford to Kansas State in the 1990’s and his older brother Ron is a member of the Penguins’ coaching staff.

Clinic cost is $50 and coaches can sign up by emailing to: dmkopp@ysu.edu or by contacting (330) 941-1342.

The clinic is in honor of former Penguin assistant coach Bob Dove. Dove, an assistant from 1969-91, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
