Library-loving moms, dads, and grandparents might already know about the Baby Brilliant program at the Canfield library. For them, the various story times offered most weeks at Canfield are creative times for all ages up to 5.

If you didn’t know about Baby Brilliant, it’s about time you stopped by the Canfield library to find out.

Children’s librarian Jane Adams has a particular passion for reading to the babies and toddlers.

“I can look down at the little faces during story times and see them soaking up the information like sponges. It’s exhilarating to watch them learn the literacy skills, even if they can’t use them for themselves quite yet.”

Often creating the songs, games and crafts for the 20-30 minute events herself, Adams considers the skills she uses for Baby Brilliant reminiscent of a basic preschool teacher. She doesn’t mind that responsibility, however.

“We love to offer to children, no matter how young they are, the chance to absorb the reading skills that will be so important in their lives.”
