Columbiana Co. first-half real estate tax bills in mail

LISBON — Columbiana County Treasurer Nick Barborak announced that the real estate tax statements for the first half of 2010 have been mailed to property owners.

Barborak added that taxpayers who do not receive a statement by Jan. 25 should call his office at 330-424-9514. Barborak said that failure to receive a statement does not excuse payment.

The payments must be postmarked or received by the treasurer’s office no later than March 4. If the payment is not on time, a 10-percent penalty will be imposed.

Barborak said his office will work with delinquent taxpayers to create a payment plan that will allow them to pay the delinquency over time without additional penalties.
