Warren man convicted of kidnapping

WARREN
A jury has found O’Mearo Beaver guilty of kidnapping and burglary.
Jurors reached their verdict after deliberating only 30 minutes Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Police said Beaver, 20, of Commerce Street Northwest, was among three men who robbed a house on Westwood Street Northwest on Jan. 27, 2010, while ordering a 12-year-old boy who was home alone to lie on the floor while they took video games and game systems, a television, jewelry and items from his mother’s purse.
Judge Peter Kontos, who presided over the three-day trial, will sentence Beaver on Feb. 14. He could get up to 18 years in prison.
The boy called 911 just after the robbers left, describing the vehicle they were using and the type of clothing the men were wearing.
Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole, hearing the description of the car and occupants, left the Warren Police Department in his unmarked police car and located a car and occupants in the Hampshire House Apartments on Fifth Street Southwest.
Cole apprehended the two men in the car and found many of the stolen items in the men’s pockets and in the car’s trunk.
The men were Beaver and Shon L. Thompson, 21, of Fifth Street Southwest. Thompson pleaded guilty to kidnapping and burglary Dec. 6 and awaits sentencing. The third man was never identified.
