Trumbull dog-service fees to be set
Staff report
WARREN
Trumbull County commissioners are expected to approve a resolution today specifying the fee to cities and villages for the services of the Trumbull County Dog Kennel on Anderson Avenue in Howland.
The charges, effective immediately, will be $25 per call-out of a kennel employee during regular business hours and $50 per call-out during nonbusiness hours.
Previously, the charges ranged from nothing to $100 per month, said Jeff Adler, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor who advises the commissioners.
The legislation eliminates the monthly charge to the cities of Girard and Hubbard, thereby saving each city $1,200 per year.
The new rate structure charges Girard, Hubbard, Cortland and Newton Falls and the villages of Lordstown, McDonald, Orangeville, West Farmington and Yankee Lake the same $25 and $50 per call.
Townships are exempt from the charges because they do not have the right under Ohio law to have their own dog warden, Adler said.
Warren and Niles each has its own dog warden.
