Sharon businesses sponsor fundraiser for Farrell center


SHARON, PA.

Quaker Steak and Lube and eight other downtown businesses in Sharon have planned a 23rd annual “Frostbite Foodtaster Footrace” event as a benefit for the Prince of Peace Center in Farrell. It will begin at 7 p.m. today.

The $12 entry fee benefits the center’s Help Heat Homes Program

The fundraiser will feature a “Taste of Sharon” event as each participating location will offer free food tastes and drink specials.

Stops will be made this year at the following sites: The A.C.T. Inc., The Russian Club, Billy’s Black and Gold, Our Gang’s Lounge, Side Pocket Caf , The Marigold, Quaker Steak and Lube, Tailgate Party with Basilone’s, and Tully’s.

The first 600 signing up for the event will receive a free souvenir hat and T-shirt.

Prizes will be awarded the male and female finishing first, second and third in the “Footrace” part of the event. There also will be prizes for the best male and female attire, and best male and female critic in the “Foodtaster” event, party pack and last place finisher.
