City recycling division wins award

Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling received Keep America Beautiful President’s Circle Award during the organization’s 57th annual national conference in Orlando, Fla.

The award recognizes exemplary performance made by affiliates of the national nonprofit environment organization to reduce litter, minimize waste and recycle, and beautify their local communities.

Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling, a division of the city’s department of public works, was established by the Mahoning County Solid Waste Management District and the city of Youngstown. Its numerous programs and services include annual special recycling drives for appliances, electronics, tires and leaves as well as litter cleanups.
