20-year-old shot, injured in New Castle
Staff report
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
A man was shot early Wednesday morning after a fight with two other men, city police Chief Tom Sansone said.
Martierius Brown, 20, who has addresses in New Castle and Youngstown, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Sansone said.
The shooting happened at 12:21 a.m. in the 300 block of Boyles Avenue. Sansone said the men were fighting outside.
Brown was shot in the back and leg, he said. He said Brown underwent surgery at St. Elizabeth’s at 9 a.m.
The hospital did not have any information on Brown’s condition late Wednesday evening.
Sansone said Brown was walking and talking after the shooting. He went to meet police at a convenience store and flagged them down on the way.
Sansone said Brown told police he doesn’t know the men he was fighting with. “We have reason to believe he knows them,” Sansone said. He said there are no suspects yet in the shooting.
