Snow socks Valley again

The Mahoning Valley could see almost a foot of snow in some areas by this evening.
Parts of the area were expected to get up to 5 inches of snow Tuesday, and 2 to 6 inches more today and tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
The area is under a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. today.
Snow started falling Tuesday afternoon.
The snowfall caused some problems for motorists. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canfield Post reported several accidents Tuesday afternoon and evening although none appeared serious, a spokeswoman said.
The patrol’s Southington Post in Trumbull County said it had no major problems.
With the heavy snow comes the obligatory parking bans. There is a parking ban is in effect in Austintown until 3 p.m. today. Boardman’s ban continues until 6 p.m. Friday. Niles’ parking ban went into effect at 10 p.m. Tuesday and will continue until further notice.
Youngstown’s parking ban is in effect until further notice.
All vehicles are to be removed from roadways so crews can clear the streets of snow.
There is a 50-percent chance of snow showers Thursday, but accumulations aren’t expected for that day, said Walter Fitzgerald, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Cleveland.
The unseasonably low temperatures aren’t expected to get higher in the coming days. The expected high for today is the mid-20s with the temperature dropping to about 13 degrees tonight.
On Thursday, the high is supposed to be in the low 20s and going down to about 10 degrees Thursday night.
The average high temperature for this time of the year in the Valley is 38 degrees with the average low of 24 degrees.
There is no snow in Friday’s forecast, but that could be short-lived.
There is a 50-percent chance of snow Saturday, a 40-percent chance Sunday, and a 30-percent chance of snow Monday, according to the weather service.
