Mann lifts Liberty past East

LIBERTY

Jaylen Mann scored 24 points to go with 27 rebounds and three blocks as the Liberty High boys basketball team defeated East 67-66 on Tuesday.

The Leopards (5-4) outscored the Panthers 24-19 in the fourth quarter to rally.

Jamaal Daniel scored 18 points for Liberty and made four rebounds and five steals.

For East (1-7), Lee Johnson led with 16 points and four rebounds. Jaylan Morrow and Taylor Johnson each scored 12, with Marrow having 10 rebounds.

Boardman 71, Chaney 23

BOARDMAN

John Fithian and T.J. Irving led the Spartans (5-5) with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

For the Cowboys (1-6), Marquis Cotton scored nine points.

Bedford 54, Ursuline 48

BEDFORD

Bedford made five 3-point goals in the third quarter to pull away.

The Bearcats (3-8) had three players in double figures, led by Chris Carter’s 15.

Antonio Rucker added 11 points and Jared Simpson 10 for the winners..

Angelo Briggs had seven of Bedford’s 31 rebounds.

DeVonte Jenkins had 24 points and 14 of Ursuline’s 37 rebounds.

Poland 70, Niles 63

NILES

Colin Reardon and Drew Wagner had 21 points apiece for Poland (6-1, 1-0 All-American Conference Red Tier), which outscored Niles 21-15 in the third quarter.

Austin Lykins’ game-high 24 points paced the Red Dragons (5-5, 0-1).

Crestview 59, Mineral Ridge 49

MINERAL RIDGE

Carter Hill scored 14 points while Tom Oliver and Adam Coppock each netted 11 for the Rebels (7-1, 4-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier One).

C.J. Collins scored 13 points and made seven rebounds while Hill had four steals.

For the Rams (0-9, 0-5), Nathan Palmer had 17 points, followed by Zak Woolley with 15.

Mathews 53, Bristol 45

BRISTOLVILLE

C. O’Dell had 18 points for Mathews in the Northeastern Athletic Conference game.

Following a 12-12 tie after one quarter, Mathews outscored Bristol in the second quarter, 14-5.

However, Bristol doubled up on Mathews in the third quarter, 19-8, before reverting to a weak offensive finish with nine fourth-quarter points.

Andrew Holko’s 20 points led Bristol.

Grand Valley 80, Lordstown 58

LORDSTOWN

A.J. Henson scored 25 points to lead five players in double figures for Grand Valley (8-0, 4-0 NAC), which led 35-20 at halftime.

Steven Cribley scored 26 points and Zack Wells added 14 for Lordstown (4-5, 2-2).

Sharon 73, Slippery Rock 66

SHARON

Junior point guard Andre Jefferson equalled a season-high 28 points for Sharon (7-1, 4-0 Region 5).

After a sloppy first half that kept the game close until the final four minutes, the Tigers widened the lead with a flurry of free throws down the stretch.

Also for the winners, sophomore Khalil Hopson scored 18 points, while senior forward Charles Brown added 14 points.

GIRLS Warren Harding 63, East 50

WARREN

Kourtney Williams scored 25 points and made 12 rebounds to help keep the Raiders unbeaten.

Anita Brown contributed 16 points, nine rebound and a block while Diamonn Hymes scored 12 points and made six steals for Warren Harding (9-0).

For the Panthers (4-8), Lesa Oliver scored 21 points while Ashlyn Baker netted 11 points.
