Dinner to benefit children in need

The fifth annual Lena, Mason and Christian spaghetti dinner has been scheduled for Feb. 5 as a fundraiser to benefit children in need. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, 26 W. Wilson Ave.

Tickets will be $6 for adults. Children 5 and under eat free.

There will be a basket raffle and a 50-50 drawing.

Through generous donations and the annual fundraisers, six families with more than 17 children received needed assistance with groceries during the holidays.

The fund made it possible for more than 300 book bags to be filled with school supplies for the fourth annual Kids Free Fun Day/Book Bag Give-Away in August at Tod Park; for a seriously ill little girl from Niles to visit Disneyland; to provide baby items for a woman who is raising the children of her murdered sister; and to help a child who had tumors on the brain. Through a Bundle Up program, new blankets were purchased for children living with families in shelters.

Anyone who wants to donate to the fund in memory of Lena, Mason and Christian, who were murdered, is asked to make checks payable to the Lena, Mason, Christian Fund and mail to 150 S. Four Mile Run Road, Youngstown, OH 44515.
