Boil alert in effect for Campbell water users

CAMPBELL — A boil alert is in effect until noon Wednesday for city water users.

Water for cooking and drinking should be boiled before use.

A water main break that began Monday evening at Tremble Avenue and 13th Street, which leaked 750,000 gallons of water, was fixed this afternoon.

Crews were working on another broken line, this one at Hyatt Avenue and Struthers-Liberty Road, Tuesday afternoon. That break, which is smaller, occurred within an hour of crews’ having fixed the break at Tremble and 13th, said city administrator Lew Jackson.

Much of the city was without water while crews fixed the lines. Jackson said water pressure should be fine Wednesday after water levels in the city’s tanks return to normal.
