Youngstown boy faces charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A 12-year-old student at the city school district’s University Project Learning Center was charged with aggravated menacing, accused of threatening to kill a teacher.

The boy was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center. The learning center is for students who have had behavioral problems at other district schools.

According to a police report, an assistant principal and a teacher told the boy to go to class last Thursday. As they tried to walk with the boy to class, he took off his sweatshirt and began screaming, swore at them, said he would kill them and kill another of his teachers.

The teacher told police that the boy also threatened him on Jan. 4, saying that he would have his father and brother beat up and kill the teacher. The teacher told police he wanted to press charges and that he felt threatened and worried that the boy might bring a weapon to school.
