Miriam chapter installs officers, chooses theme


YOUNGSTOWN

Miriam Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star, conducted its 103rd annual installation of officers on Oct. 12 at the Masonic Temple on Wick Avenue and chose “The Gang’s All Here, Charlie Brown” as its theme for the year in honor of the 60th birthday of Charlie Brown.

Installing officers were Carol and Allen Bohr, who officiated in the East; Shirley Eckley, chaplain; Ruth West, marshal; William Westover; organist; Thomas Eckley, warder; and Bonnie Huish, sentinel. Russell W. Gillam Jr. served as host in the East.

Inducted were Merry Beth Vargo, worthy matron; Alan Burton, worthy patron; Rose Marie Roth, associate matron; Robert Ellway, associate patron; Laurie Hernandez, conductress; Judy Elliott, associate conductress; Susan Gillam, secretary; Elberta Scott, treasurer; David Venerose, marshal; Shirley Jacobs, chaplain; Marion Brownlee, organist; Linda Woolford, Ada; Christine Lucarell, Ruth; Blanche Costanza, Esther; Jean Layne, Martha; Wilma Payne, Electa; Jean Olzak, warder; and Jean McClure, sentinel.

Serving as pages will be Alice Wilds, Louise Waddell and Geraldine Thompson. Prompters will be Carol and Allen Bohr.
