Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown will be the celebrant and homilist for the 13th annual Mass for Life at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 15 at St. John the Baptist Church in Canton and at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St.

St. Columba will observe Holy Hours for Life beginning at 4 p.m. Jan. 24, the day of the National March for Life in Washington D.C.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 6 and Men and Women United for Life will provide refreshments in the cathedral hall after benediction at 7.

Children’s choir

The Watoto Children’s Choir of Uganda will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road.

A free-will offering will be taken.

Since 1994, the Watoto Children’s Choirs have toured internationally as ambassadors for the orphan children of Uganda bringing a message of hope to countries around the world. Watoto is currently caring for more than 1,600 parentless children by providing physical, emotional, educational and spiritual care.

New Life Ministries

Prophetess Debra Ingram, a Youngstown native and member of Destiny International Ministries, will be guest speaker at a meeting of Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an inter-denominational ministry, on Jan. 17 at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the ministry at 7.

Singers Eric and James McClellan and Janeen Williams, who are siblings, and pianist Anthony Ruggiero will present “Songs to Remember” at 3 p.m. Jan. 16 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive.

A free-will offering will be taken to benefit Martin Luther Church Music Ministry and Lutheran World Relief.

Seraphim Chorus

The Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, will host the annual winter concert with a performance by the Seraphim Chorus at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Seraphim is a 50-plus member community chorus directed by Kris Harper that will perform an eclectic blend of classical, traditional, spiritual and popular favorites. Seraphim began in 2000, after a group of singers were called together to sing at a memorial service for Frances Kerpsack, a local peace advocate and member of Peace Action Council of Youngstown.

Columbiana Area Community Christian Women will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Upper Room Fellowship, 500 Sponseller Road.

Pastor retiring

Pastor G. Ben Reed is retiring as senior pastor of First Baptist Church, 26 E. Church St., after 29 years of ministry. He began serving the church in May 1981. He will preach for the last time at services at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. The pastor’s wife, Pam, retired as church secretary in October after 21 years of service. Orthodox Christmas

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., is observing the third day of Christmas with a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Sunday. The church had Christmas Eve on Thursday and Christmas on Friday, following the Julian calendar.

Retrouvaille program

Retrouvaille of Youngstown is for couples experiencing marital difficulty at all levels of distress. The program is designed to provide the tools to help get marriages back on track. A Retrouvaille program will begin the weekend of Feb. 25-27 at Boardman Holiday Inn. The program also includes 12 post sessions over a six-week period. The nonprofit organization involves teams of people who have gone through the program.
