Market Street students relax before break
The songs music teacher Dean Wilson prepared for students and staff for their Holiday Sing had the whole school singing along.

Market Street Elementary wanted Dec. 22, their last day before winter break, to be relaxed, friendly and fun. After celebrating in individual room parties, the cherry on top of a stress-free day was to gather students and staff for their 10th annual Christmas sing-along.
Students from kindergarten through fourth grade huddled into the auditorium dressed in their holiday best, including elf costumes, Santa hats and a Grinch hat worn by principal James Stitt. Music teacher Dean Wilson, using an acoustic guitar and piano, played the tunes to holiday classics like “Jingle Bells” and “Joy to the World,” while providing the lyrics on a projector screen.
After a few tunes, Wilson paused.
“I think we deserve some silliness in our lives after such a long semester, right?” he asked the crowd.
After an excited ‘yes’ from the students, Wilson shared funny videos that placed pictures of select teachers, custodians and administrators on the bodies of disco dancing and sled riding cartoons.
“Yes, I think the videos were a favorite,” Wilson said after the show. “Kids will always love seeing teachers doing anything ridiculous. I just wanted everyone to be laughing and singing. That’s the best way to end before winter break.”
