VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE AND STATE UNIVERSITY, Blacksburg, Va.

Michael Nycz of Girard has been accepted to the graduate school at Virginia Tech. Nycz is majoring in geosciences and pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in the College of Science. The graduate school at Virginia Tech promotes graduate education as a critical component in the transmission of new knowledge, research, ideas and scholarship. It is responsible for the development, administration and evaluation of graduate education throughout the university, providing support to faculty, staff and more than 6,000 graduate students.

BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE, Berea

Kristiana L. Brown of Berlin Center was inducted into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society at Baldwin-Wallace College during a ceremony Nov. 12. Dayton C. Miller recognizes academic excellence and inductees are selected for consistently maintaining superior academic work. Only 4 percent of the undergraduate student body achieves membership. Brown is a senior. Baldwin-Wallace College, founded in 1845, was one of the first colleges to admit students without regard to race or gender. An independent, co-educational college of 4,500 students, Baldwin-Wallace offers coursework in the liberal-arts tradition in 27 academic areas.

PENN STATE UNIVERSITY, State College, Pa.

Emily Bush, a 2007 graduate of Boardman High School, graduated from Penn State’s main campus Dec. 18 with a bachelor of arts degree in media studies from the College of Communications with a 3.44 grade-point average. She plans to start law school in September.
