Teen attacks sister, gets arrested

Austintown —A 16-year-old township teen was arrested after attacking his mother and 15-year-old sister.

Police charged the boy Thursday with two counts of domestic violence and took him to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown after a verbal argument with his older sister turned physical.

The 15-year-old victim told police she and the suspect were arguing at their Burkey Road home when he cornered her and began punching her in the face with a closed fist. She sustained a bloody nose and bruising under her left eye.

The teen then turned on his mother as she attempted to intervene, punching her in the arm and grabbing her by the throat, according to a police report.

A witness present during the incident corroborated the victims’ statements.

The suspect fled on foot before police arrived, but returned a short time later and was arrested.
