POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Jan. 2

Theft: A man left Rite Aid Pharmacy, 713 N. State St., in a vehicle after activating the store’s security alarm, though it was undetermined what had been stolen.

Theft: Two cartons of cigarettes were taken from Highland Dairy, 722 N. Highland Ave.

Jan. 3

Theft: A woman discovered gasoline had been stolen from her vehicle in the 200 block of South Davis Street.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed a brick and caused roughly $1,000 in damage to a car’s front fender in the 100 block of East Liberty Street.

Theft: Around $10,000 worth of equipment was stolen from a construction site near U.S. Route 422 and Interstate 80.

Theft: A woman reported a Sony PlayStation2 game stolen from her residence in the 100 block of East Prospect Street.

Jan. 4

Theft: A woman at a West Broadway Avenue laundry facility reported the theft of $250 worth of clothing.

Jan. 5

Arrest: Officers picked up 45-year-old Jenelle Cutter at her home, 40 Emma St., Girard, on a warrant.

Dec. 30

Aggravated menacing: A man alleged a Saul Drive man had threatened to decapitate the accuser’s wife.

Dec. 31

Criminal mischief: A Hager Street man saw that someone had intentionally driven through his side yard.

Jan. 1

Possible breaking and entering: Police received a report of a possible break-in at a building in the 6100 block of West Liberty Street.

Jan. 2

Harassment: A Ruth Drive woman said her former husband has been making such calls.

Jan. 3

Theft: A juvenile was detained after batteries had been stolen from Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St.

Fraud: An Austintown man reported some of his stolen checks were cashed at a West Liberty Street business.

LIBERTY

Dec. 29

Domestic violence: Police charged Ronald E. Coman Jr., 44, of 411 Ravine Drive, Liberty, with the crime after his wife alleged an intoxicated Coman had made various threats against her. He also made such remarks in front of police, they said.

Recovered property: A $150 mountain bike was found abandoned on a driveway in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive.

Burglary: Someone looking after a home in the 300 block of Colonial Drive reported a break-in through a bedroom window, and that the room had been ransacked.

Vandalism: Someone cut two 7-foot-tall inflatable Christmas decorations in a yard in the 1100 block of Academy Drive.

Dec. 30

Aggravated menacing: A Youngstown woman told police a Logan Gate Road man threatened to harm her and break into her apartment when informed the accuser couldn’t give the man $15 she owed him.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a maintenance garage at a mobile-home park off Belmont Avenue and removed a riding lawn mower.

Misuse of a credit card: A Santa Monica Drive woman noticed a $300 unauthorized withdrawal on her bank statement.

Theft: Charges were pending against a girl, 17, and an 18-year-old man, both of Youngstown, after a bottle of hair glue and other merchandise was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Dec. 31

Theft: A Logan Gate Road woman noticed a $3,000 gold necklace missing from a jewelry box.

Theft: A Cleveland woman went to a Belmont Avenue bank and discovered $1,726 had been removed without authorization.

Jan. 1

Aggravated menacing: A charge was pending against a 42-year-old Girard man after a Youngstown man reported having been chased and threatened while pumping gasoline at a Belmont Avenue station.

Jan. 3

Drugs: Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 3100 block of Logan Gate Road, then charged 36-year-old Gerald W. Kay, 2756 Ridge Road, Cortland, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia when, they said, two syringes for heroin use and a suspected crack pipe were found. Kay also was wanted on a warrant.

Theft: A Youngstown woman noticed her purse missing at a Goldie Road store.

Stolen property: Officers responded to a Youngstown-Hubbard Road business regarding possible wanted people, where they took into custody 31-year-old Carlene M. Silver, 131 S. Lakeview Ave., Youngstown, on a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property.

Jan. 4

Theft: A worker for a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant reported her $200 cell phone stolen.

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 304 led to the arrest of 48-year-old Virgil R. Lowery Jr., 3109 Hadley Ave., Liberty, on charges of driving under the influence and left of center.

Arrest: Orwell police handed to township authorities Darlene Markley, 31, of 1509 Millicent Drive, Hubbard. She was wanted on a charge of violating her probation.
