POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Dec. 23

Trespassing: A Polo Boulevard man said a former spouse had trespassed onto his property.

Dec. 24

Breaking and entering: Took place in the 6800 block of Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, where a 24-volt grass trimmer was stolen.

Dec. 28

Harassment: A man in the 6500 block of Pacifica Drive man filed a report.

Assault: A North Lima Road woman reported a friend had assaulted her.

BOARDMAN

Dec. 29

Arrest: Police served a warrant to 57-year-old Thomas E. Lucas Jr., 4055 South Ave., Boardman, charging him with obstructing official business related to a loud-music complaint. Lucas had given authorities a false name and date of birth, they said.

Misuse of a credit card: A Washingtonville woman discovered her missing card was used without consent at two township stores.

Theft: A $220 gas grill was removed from a back porch in the 7400 block of Sierra Madre Trail.

Theft: A worker for a South Avenue business reported the theft of a $300 MP3 player.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: Someone took a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a test drive but failed to return it to Used Car Connection Inc., 482 E. Western Reserve Road.

Theft: Michael J. Jones, 22, of Waynesburg, Pa., was charged in the theft of a $71 bottle of men’s cologne from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Identity fraud: A Market Street woman learned her name and Social Security number had been used without permission to open an account with a gas company. The accuser also reported a collection agency advised she owes $350.

Dec. 30

Domestic violence: John M. Rosa, 42, of 6803 Lockwood Blvd., Boardman, was charged with the crime after his son alleged an intoxicated Rosa had thrown him around their apartment several times and choked him. Police found scratch marks and dried blood on the accuser, a report said.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 900 block of East Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Brendan M. Rozier, 3720 Erie St., Youngstown, on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Theft: Thirty Vicodin tablets were stolen at Valley Renaissance, 5665 South Ave.

Aggravated menacing: Two men told officers another man had threatened to harm them at a Doral Drive store.

Theft: William R. Seabrook, 58, of 3253 Creek Road, New Waterford, was charged after an employee at Sears in the Southern Park Mall alleged Seabrook, a co-worker, had deliberately rung up a $25 gift card without paying for it. He was released on a summons.

Criminal damaging: Two of a vehicle’s tires were slashed in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Police pulled over a car on Market Street, where they took into custody 28-year-old Matthew F. Vincik, 442 Raccoon Road, Youngstown, on a warrant from Struthers Municipal Court.

Theft: A 16-year-old New Middletown girl was accused of stealing from Macy’s a sweater and a pair of earrings.

Dec. 31

Vandalism: A Palo Verde Drive woman told police an enraged contractor kicked 11 holes in her basement wall when she refused to pay him until after the work was complete.

Theft: Jerry J. Bohrer, 48, of 1207 Oak St., Youngstown, was charged with stealing about $180 worth of tools from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd. He also was wanted on a warrant from Trumbull County.

Theft: A woman at a South Avenue business discovered a $50 gift card missing from her purse.

Theft: A global-positioning-system unit, an MP3 player and a cassette adaptor were stolen from a vehicle in the 1100 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Jan. 1

Theft: A man in his 40s stole three Bluetooth headsets from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Assault: Officers responded to a fight in the 80 block of Prestwick Drive, where a Struthers man reported having been attacked. No arrests had been made at the time of the report, however.

Arrest: Daniel Dixon Jr., 26, was picked up at his residence, 7057 West Blvd., Boardman, on a warrant from Austintown charging him with failure to appear in court to face a theft count.

Theft: A township woman reported her cell phone missing at a Doral Drive store.

Criminal damaging: Three eggs were splattered on a door to a West Parkside Drive residence.

Theft: A $150 MP3 player was missing from a home in the 5000 block of Firnley Avenue.

Attempted burglary: Authorities received a report that someone was seen kicking a basement window in an effort to break into a residence in the 4400 block of Green Glen Drive. No entry was made, though.

Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 6700 block of Tippecanoe Road through the front door. Stolen were a laptop computer, a surge-protector device and three computer cables.

Jan. 2

Theft: A Griswold Drive man reported the theft of his $250 MP3 player.

Theft: A 3-foot-tall snowman decoration was taken from a yard in the 200 block of Afton Avenue.

Arrest: Police responded to an argument on Doral Drive and charged a 17-year-old Struthers boy with obstructing official business and resisting arrest when, they said, he swore at and refused to cooperate with authorities.

Burglary: Someone forced open a rear door to a home in the 7100 block of Paxton Road and stole two flat-screen TVs, a DVD player and a laptop computer.
