Walsh 91, Roberts Wesleyan 56

NAIA No. 1 Walsh (14-0) placed six players and all five starters in double figures, led by Jeremy Shardo with 17 points. Junior forward L.J. Sutton (Cardinal Mooney) scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds and the Cavaliers led from start to finish.

Slippery Rock 76, Kutztown 73

KUTZTOWN, PA.

Junior guard Devin Taylor came up one rebound and one blocked shot shy of a triple-double to lead Slippery Rock (8-4) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover action. Taylor scored a season- and game-high 25 points, grabbed nine rebounds and rejected nine Golden Bears shots to pace a Rock attack that featured three players with double-digit scoring totals. Senior guard Jabril Bailey and senior forward Maron Brown each scored 17 points to complement Taylor’s effort. Brown also snared a game-high 17 points to record his eighth double-double of the season. Julius Gray scored a team-high 17 points for Kutztown (6-4).

Juniata 64, Grove City 56, OT

HUNTINGDON, PA.

Freshman guard Charlie Thomas made his first career start for the Wolverines (4-7) and fired in a career-high 14 points, including four 3-point goals. Junior center Kris Verderber poured in 12 points while junior guard Cody Fleeger and senior forward Luke Tomaselli each scored 11 points. Jeremy Hays led Juniata with 17 points. Juniata held Grove City without a field goal for over three minutes in overtime as the Eagles opened the extra period on a 7-1 run. Tomaselli’s jumper with 1:20 left cut Juniata’s lead to 60-56 but the Wolverines could get no closer.

Waynesburg 75, Westminster 69

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Junior forward Rob Briggs scored more than 20 points for the first time in his career but it wasn’t enough for Westminster (3-10, 0-4 PAC). Briggs scored a game-high 22 points and surpassed his previous career high of 17 points set in his first collegiate game in 2008. Briggs shot 9 of 13 shooting from the floor, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range. He also had six rebounds. Freshman guard Kendall Hunter also posted a career night for the Titans as he scored in double figures for the first time with 15 points on 5-9 shooting from the field. Junior guard Anthony DeFelice (Poland) registered his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Steven Iser and Nick Herman paced the Yellow Jackets (5-7, 2-1) with 17 and 10 points, respectively, while Iser led Waynesburg with six rebounds and Herman dished out a team-best four assists.

WOMEN

Waynesburg 78, Westminster 75

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Senior point guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville) led the Titans (3-9, 0-5) with 16 points and six assists but Westminster couldn’t pull off the win despite turning in its best shooting performance of the season. McCarthy now has 334 career assists as she surpassed Alyson Gasper (329 from 2001-05) to move into fourth place on Westminster’s career list. Sophomore forward Katie Hughes (Cardinal Mooney) came off the bench to score 11 points. Hannah Hunter led Waynesburg (9-2, 3-1) with 28 points.

Kutztown 86, Slippery Rock 58

KUTZTOWN, PA.

Ashley Wood led three Kutztown (7-3) players in double figures with a game-high 26 points. Shannon Lee led Slippery Rock (1-9) with a career-high 19 points. She also pulled down four rebounds, handed out six assists and recorded two steals.

Case Western Reserve 60, Hiram 44

UNIVERSITY CIRCLE

Case (6-5) was led in scoring by Erin Hollinger with a game-high 20 points on eight-of-17 shooting and a team-high eight rebounds. Senior guard Jess Cowan led the Terriers (8-4) with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
